If you've been wondering what I've been doing lately. School had kept me busy the last few weeks. Making new concepts every week and presenting them is really a drag -__-' I feel like my creativity tank is running low, but it looks like I have the best ideas compared to everyone. Nobody and I really mean nobody has been criticizing my ideas or felt that something was missing. They all listened to what I say and agreed with nearly every idea I came up with. It feels like I'm herding a pack of sheep's who can't think for themselves... Anyways enough about school and lets get down to the point.
If you know me I like taking pictures. I bought my first camera a Sony T9 just because I wanted to take pictures. The more pictures I took the more I learned, the more I wanted to take. Going from autosettings to manual-settings. I started to appreciate it more and more. It slowly became a hobby and I did it because I liked taking pictures and sharing them with everyone. But I've really never thought of doing it for money or as a job. The reason for that is because there are so many professional photographers who are better then me a amateur, how could I ever compete with them?
A few weeks ago I met this guy who owns a car-leather company. He offered me a job to take pictures for his products. I wasn't expecting much of it because it was to good to be true. Earning money by just taking pictures sounds to good to be true right? The company is in Rijen somewhere close to Breda. And hell if I would go there it would take me 2,5 hours with the train. But I did said yes to his offer. You get this all the time in your life, you get a chance but actually they only say it just to be polite.
I wasn't expecting to hear anything from him ever again. But he contacted my dad last week and said the offer was still open. GREAT, right? So I took the train to Rijen on saturday, grabbing everything that I would need to get to work. Once I got there I figured I needed a studio at least a white-sheet where I could take the pictures. With the help of some workers there we improvised a temporarily studio with some white-sheets and boards drilled to the wall. After taking pictures for two hours I had lunch with him discussing about my payment and future work. Everything would be settled if he approved the quality of the pictures that I had taken.
After that I was dropped at the station and on my way home in the train. Got home and did some retouching on the pictures. Because it was Saturday I had to wait until Monday before I could send him the photo's. After sending them, all I could do is wait until he gets them. If he approves them, I'll be doing all the photographic work for his company in the future.
The funny thing is I never had any lessons in photography. It just a started out as a hobby. But now I've been wondering would I still like it if it would become a part of my job? Go professional? Photography isn't really related to my study. But it does come close to video and film where I did had some lessons in. Don't get me wrong. But I'm a bit insecure, having no education in photography, never been on a professional photoshoot before, never worked with a professional before. Everything I know, I learned it myself using information I could find on the internet or from the people around me.
I think I'm most scared of failing. Because once you fail it gets harder to get up. Especially when its your own fault. You get beaten down from those dreamy clouds and hit reality on the hard cold floor. I know I wont die if I don't get the job. But I really want to do this work. I really do want it because I like it. And I really hope its not a one day fly job. Cause that would suck big time.
So I can wait to hear his answer. Probably have to wait a week or two before I hear anything from him again. So fingers crossed that he'll be pleased with it.
I know its totally unrelated, but I was just digging through some old pictures when I found this again XD
